The Tower's main function was to alert the residents of the arrival of the enemy ships through fire or smoke signals. Together with The Torre de Montgó and the Towers of Les Corts and Vilanera fortified estates, they created a visual network capable of overseeing a very important part of the territory. Torre del Pedró, was first documented in 1543 and was probably built by the counts of Empúries to defend the maritime transport of cereals from the Sant Vicenç mill, among others. It was renovated in the 18th century and served as a prision. The highest part was removed after opening the road at the end of the 19th century.

Der Aussichtsturm wurde geschlossen und dieser Zustand dauert bis heute an. Ungefähr 50 m vom Aussichtsturm entfernt steht eine weitere Sehenswürdigkeit – ein trigonometrischer Punkt, der ruhig als Aussichtspunkt dienen kann.

El mirador fue cerrado permaneciendo así hasta ahora. Aproximadamente a cincuenta metros del mirador se puede visitar otro monumento interesante – una torre triangular, que puede servir como mirador.

La torretta panoramica è rimasta chiusa fino ai nostri giorni. A circa 50 metri dalla torretta è possibile visitare un altro monumento interessante, una torre di triangolazione geodetica che può essere ugualmente utilizzata come punto panoramico.

Der Weg führt rechts um den Hügel Puig de la Creu (623m) und langsam immer weiter abwärts, zunächst auf einer Erdpiste und dann auch auf einem schmalen Pfad bis zur Straße nach Maçanet de Cabrenys die nach einigen Metern den Rec de Mas Castells überquert. En arqueología su contribución provino inicialmente de su formación en estudios clásicos, argumentando para la arqueología prehistórica el valor de la seriación y la estratigrafía, y la aplicación correcta de la llamada Ley de Worsaae sobre la importancia del ajuar funerario en el establecimiento de la contemporaneidad de las tumbas. También abordó el problema de las implicaciones teóricas de los conceptos de estadio, período y horizonte en arqueología, los patrones de asentamiento y la iconografía (del arte Chavín sobre todo). Su trabajo arqueológico se concentró en el Perú meridional que le sirvió de base para construir la secuencia arqueológica de la Sierra y Costa peruanas. Todo ello sin olvidar sus estudios sobre la civilización inca de la que constituyó uno de sus grandes especialistas. A su muerte, Rowe dejó más de 300 ítems bibliográficos publicados. When in 1854 the London neighbourhood of Soho was struck by a severe outbreak of cholera, most investigators pointed at ‘miasma’ or ‘bad air’ as its main cause. Dr John Snow refused to accept this theory, and set out to prove his point. He did not call upon chemical or microscopic testing, for the simple reason that they did not yet exist, just as germ theory of disease had not yet been described. He did what really intelligent people do, that is: talking to local residents. On a now famous map he marked the different clusters of cholera in the area, which allowed him to identify a public water pump on Broad Street as the culprit. Using mapping and statistics, Dr Snow convinced the local council to de-activate the water pump by removing its handle, but while at it also made a major contribution to public health and geography, and laid the ground works for a whole new discipline: epidemiology.
