Le rôle de l’Appel des appels n’est donc pas d’être un mouvement de protestation comme les autres, il ne consiste pas seulement à jouer les « coordinations des coordinations », ou à être la caisse de résonance des mouvements. Même si tout ce travail est indispensable. Il consiste à pointer et analyser les nouvelles « servitudes », les nouveaux modes d’assujettissement, et à penser à partir du terrain les nouveaux modes de résistance. Et ceci en étroits rapports avec les forces du mouvement social, tout particulièrement les syndicats. Car il s’agit bien sûr d’accélérer la prise de conscience des conditions nouvelles de la lutte du côté des forces sociales et politiques constituées ou en voie de constitution.
