Paganini used the old scordatura technique (tuning the instrument differently so as to facilitate the playing of certain compositions): in the first concerto for violin, the accompaniment of the orchestra is written in E flat major, while the solo part is in D major; the violin is tuned half a tone higher, giving the chord A flat - E flat - B flat - F. All of Paganinis compositions are exceptionally difficult to play.

Paganini utilisait la vieille technique de la scordature: dans le premier concerto pour violon, laccompagnement de lorchestre est écrit en mi bémol majeur, alors que la partie du soliste est notée en ré majeur, le violon étant haussé dun demi-ton, ce qui donne laccord la bémol - mi bémol - si bémol - fa. Toutes les compositions de Paganini sont dune rare difficulté dinterprétation.
