Marcel Duchamp es un artista francés nacionalizado estadounidense. El más joven de seis hermanos, cuatro de los cuales seguirían así mismo la carrera artística (de ellos fueron especialmente notorios los dos mayores, Jacques y Raymond), recaló en París a la edad de diecisiete años. En su faceta como pintor, que hubo de simultanear con el trabajo de caricaturista, pasó rápidamente por todas las tendencias artísticas en boga –impresionismo, postimpresionismo, fauvismo, cubismo– sin comprometerse con ninguna; este afán experimentador e inquieto iba a ser una de las constantes de su fecunda trayectoria.

Through a selection of pieces created by national and international artists (Achille Perilli, Richard Avedon, Eduardo Arroyo, Man Ray, Jaume Plensa, Robert Llimós, Alighiero Boetti, Alberto García-Alix, Andy Warhol, Roman Buxbaum, José Noguero, Darío Villalba, Lucio Fontana, Giacomo Balla, Luis Lugán, Antoni Abad, Antonio Saura, Zush, Miquel Barceló, Jordi Sabaté, Isidre Manils, Antoni Tàpies and Sergi Aguilar) using different media (sculpture, photography, tapestry, painting, printing and mixed techniques), the visitor will have to live through his own experience, interacting between him itself as observant, the artist and his proposed work, and to think about the different approaches to a certain artistic subject matter, trying to admit this way the limits of the visual arts across the thought.

Pushed to its limits by the machine, the material reveals its incapacity to embody a concept, its impotence when it comes to retracing the ray of an idea, all the way to its synthesis.

Aunque el nomadismo del escritor impide verle en un lugar establecido, podemos apreciar todos sus materiales como una larga disección, en la que el lector de mediana edad con toda seguridad se identificará, sea por las ediciones de libros de ciencia ficción de los años ochenta (a la que era aficionado), recopilaciones de autores como Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, H.P. Lovecraft. O sea también por los libros de autores como Borges o James Joyce por los que sentía admiración, sin dejar de lado los juegos de estrategia a los que le gustaba jugar. Todos estos materiales han sido cedidos por los herederos del escritor, mostrándose de forma inédita. Al terminar de ver la muestra, tenemos esa agradable sensación de haber, por un momento, estado dentro del ente creativo del artista, dentro de su taller, dentro de su estudio. Un lugar reservado que nos dice como es la persona que trabaja: Un escritor de vanguardia decidido a romper como lo establecido.

A través de las intersecciones entre las líneas que estructuran el espacio de las salas del CA2M, Beshty diseñará una exposición que represente una fase intermedia, experimentada tanto a nivel físico como conceptual, realzada por los ángulos agudos, los giros abruptos y la colocación descentrada de las paredes. En cada caso, la obra de arte es inseparable de las circunstancias casuales de su creación (el tiempo, el viaje o la luz) y de las condiciones reunidas en el momento de su observación.
