It thereby laid the foundations for Vienna's role today as the seat of numerous international organisations. The IAEA has approximately 2 200 employees, which makes it the largest international organisation based in Vienna.

Die Internationale Atomenergie-Organisation (IAEO) war die erste Internationale Organisation (IO), die sich in Wien ansiedelte und damit Wien als Amtssitz inzwischen zahlreicher Internationaler Organisationen etablierte. Die IAEO beschäftigt ca. 2200 Mitarbeiter, und ist damit die größte in Wien ansässige Internationale Organisation.
