Dupini su vrsta čiji opstanak ugrožavaju ljudske aktivnosti na moru, pretjerani izlov ribe i zagađenje mora. Dupini uz pomoć zvuka identificiraju i hvataju plijen, međusobno komuniciraju i orijentiraju se stvarajući akustičnu kartu zone u kojoj se kreću.

Dolphins are the species whose survival is endangered due to human activities at sea, overfishing and pollution. Dolphins, with hearing, identify and capture their prey, communicate and orient themselves with the creation of a noise map of the area in which they move. Most of the sounds produced by ships, in particular the sounds of propellers, overlap with the frequencies used by dolphins. Because of this interference, they sometimes leave their favorite places where they seek food and where to stay with their young, and noise produces stress to the dolphins. Since 1995, the Dolphins are a protected species in Croatia, but that's not enough. Without the awareness and knowledge of the rules of conduct no written laws can be quite effective: the dolphins should not be chased and ships must not be guided directly towards them. Dolphins can be approximated very slowly, keeping parallel to their direction of movement and avoiding sudden changes of direction and noises. You should turn off the engines. Within 100 meters from the dolphins there mustn't be more than one ship, 200 meters up to three. When you leave the area, you must accelerate gradually and only when you are at a distance of 100 meters.

Delfine sind eine Tiergattung, deren Existenz durch menschliche Aktivitäten im Meer, Überfischung und Meeresverschmutzungen gefährdet ist. Delfine identifizieren und jagen ihre Beute mithilfe von Schallwellen. Sie kommunizieren mit ihren Artgenossen durch Laute und bilden in der Zone, in der sie sich aufhalten, so genannte akustische Felder, die ihnen bei der Orientierung helfen. Die meisten Töne, die von Motorbooten und vor allem von Propellern erzeugt werden, überschneiden sich mit den Frequenzbereichen der Delfine. Deshalb verlassen sie manchmal ihre Lieblingsorte, an denen sie sich ernähren oder mit ihren Kälbern leben. Außerdem weiß man in der Zwischenzeit auch, dass Lärm bei Delfinen Stress auslöst. 1995 wurden Delfine in Kroatien unter Schutz gestellt. Aber leider reicht das nicht. Ohne sich der Verhaltensregeln bewusst zu sein oder sie zu kennen, ist kein Schutz auf dem Papier wirkungsvoll: Delfine dürfen nicht gejagt werden und Boote dürfen nicht direkt auf sie zusteuern. Delfinen sollte man sich langsam nur seitlich nähern, ohne Lärm und ohne ruckartige Bewegungen. Richtungsänderungen sind ebenfalls zu vermeiden. Am besten ist es, den Motor auszuschalten. In einem Umkreis von 100 Metern sollte sich nicht mehr als ein Boot aufhalten. In einem Umkreis von 200 Metern sollten nicht mehr als drei Boote zugegen sein. Beim Verlassen von Bereichen, in denen sich Delfine aufhalten, sollte man sich langsam entfernen und erst dann beschleunigen, wenn man mindestens 100 Meter von den Delfinen entfernt ist.
