Je viens de finir aussi un long métrage sur la période après la révolution tunisienne. Cette présence à Cannes me permet de faire avancer mon travail sur ce long métrage, de rencontrer des gens et voir des films.

J’ai tourné dans la région tunisienne de Tataouine. Tout le monde dans le cinéma connaît la planète Tatooine de Star Wars. La Guerre des Etoiles a été tournée juste à côté de mon lieu de tournage. C’est un paysage magnifique.

J’ai encore en tête des souvenirs inoubliables comme la projection de Borom Sarret (l’homme à la charrette, premier court métrage d’Ousmane Sembène, 1962). D’ailleurs, c’est au sortir de la projection d’un film en 1974 que j’ai rencontré mon épouse. Le film se nommait Touki Bouki (film de Djibril Diop, sortie en 1973) », raconte avec un air triste Lamine Sène (âgé aujourd’hui de 71 ans), assis aux allées Ababacar Sy du jet d’eau.
