A significant example of Renaissance architecture, the church has perfect forms, with numerous references to the ancient Roman buildings, such as the arch of the central portal and the tympanums on the sides.
La Basilica di San Bernardino domina dall'alto la città. Eretta a metà del Quattrocento, fu ricostruita dopo il terremoto del 1703 e presenta ancora la facciata originale del 1540. Esempio significativo di architettura rinascimentale, la chiesa ha una sua perfetta geometria, densa di richiami agli antichi edifici romani, come l’arco del portale centrale e i timpani di quelli laterali. La facciata è suddivisa in tre piani con colonne nei tre ordini classici: dorico, ionico e corinzio.

Il perimetro di Castelvecchio poggia su sei torri coperte ed è sovrastato dalla più alta torre del Mastio. Le mura di Verona sono citate anche da Shakespeare, che ambientò nella città la storia d’amore tra Romeo e Giulietta.
