De JBL CoolControl is ontwikkeld voor een samenwerking met de JBL Cooler en werkt derhalve zonder problemen hiermee sqmen. Op basis van verschillende spanningen kan de werking met "vreemde" apparatuur niet gegarandeerd worden. Ook de verbindingsstekker, die op het eerste gezicht identiek is, kan een afwijkende weerstand aantonen. Hierdoor kan een "vreemde" cooler ongewenste schakelingen en daardoor ruis veroorzaken.
