- As early as in March I said the following words: "I have always believed and still believe that football, and a football club in particular, is only to the benefit of our city and football fans. I must admit that in spite of a complicated situation I remain optimistic, and in the difficulties the club is currently facing I see only steps to be taken towards new opportunities. The priorities for our club have remained unchanged. In the new season, FC "Ventspils" will focus on rejuvenating the team, on working very intensively with our younger reserves, the young players from the youth sports school, as well as on improving the professional skills of young coaches. I am certain that our club's level of playing will only grow! I feel sure that the strength of FC "Ventspils", whose foundation and development has consumed a lot of effort and financial means, these days is in its unity and oneness. I am confident that in the forthcoming season we will fight for the first prizes in all the tournaments that we are going to take part in. The champions' league, certainly, can't be won, but anyway, we will stand up for the reputation of the club in the major club contest of Europe."

- Еще в марте я сказал следующее: "Считал и считаю, что футбол и футбольный клуб, в частности, – это благо для всего нашего города и болельщиков. Должен отметить, что, несмотря на сложности, я остаюсь оптимистом, и в трудностях клуба вижу только шаги для новых возможностей. Наши клубные приоритеты остаются неизменными. ФК "Вентспилс" в новом сезоне будет делать ставку на омоложение, интенсивно работать с нашим резервом, с воспитанниками детско-юношеской школы, совершенствовать подготовку молодых тренеров. Не сомневаюсь, что уровень игры нашего клуба будет только повышаться! Уверен, что ФК "Вентспилс", на создание и развитие которого было отдано много сил и средств, сегодня силен единством. Уверен, что мы будем бороться в наступающем сезоне за первые места во всех турнирах, в которых принимаем участие. Лигу чемпионов, конечно, не выиграть, но в любом случае мы побьемся за честь клуба в главном клубном соревновании Европы." Развязка сезона говорит лишь о том, что в марте мои слова не были голословным утверждением.
