The Rexton Sports and Recreation Centre was officially reopened after a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 8, 2011. Miramichi MP Tilly O'Neill-Gordon joined the Honourable Claude Williams (right), Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Mayor David Hanson (centre) from the Village of Rexton to formally reopen the village's upgraded recreational facility.

Research being conducted by the Atlantic-based company could lead to earlier detection and more effective treatment of ovarian, prostate and breast cancers. Lighthouse Productions Inc. will make upgrades to its theatre in Grand Bank thanks to an investment of nearly $290,000 by Canada's New Government, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). The funding was announced by the Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador at an event in Grand Bank, August 8. Joining Minister Hearn at the event were cast members (l-r): Andy McGee, Kurt Warren, Lisa Smith, Robyn Matthews, Jennifer Brown, Meghan Farrell, Angie Russell; as well as the theatre company's artist director, Berni Stapleton.

Il s'agit de la deuxieme initiative d'envergure prise par la municipalite pour revitaliser le parc et la plage du lac Baker.
The permanent festival tent in Lac Baker, New Brunswick was officially opened on August 4, 2011. The $189,000 project was funded in part through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program. This is the second major initiative undertaken by the municipality to revitalize the Lac Baker park and beach, providing the community with improved facilities so it can attract more visitors to the region. The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for ACOA joined Mayor Jean-Marc Nadeau, and Madawaska-les-Lacs MLA, Yvon Bonenfant, in a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the permanent festival tent.
