Mansour Sultan Al Kharji, Director General of Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain said that there are more than 15 complaints received from customers to the Department of Consumer Protection regarding to defraud from one of travel and tourism offices working in the emirate after taking their money, which exceed 200 thousand AED and deludes them that all their reservations and their tickets are complete and the date of travel to destinations is imminent, pointing that the department formed a team of Consumer Protection section inspectors to investigate the case, after receiving complaints, and it turned out the credibility of the complaint and defraud the owner after checking the office, and after confirmation of the validity of the complaints the office was closed and the file referred to the public prosecutor in Umm Al Quwain Court to take the necessary procedures , and to retrieve the customer funds.

وقال منصور سلطان الخرجي مدير عام دائرة التنمية الاقتصادية في أم القيوين إن هناك أكثر من 15 شكوى وردت من متعاملين إلى إدارة حماية المستهلك تفيد بنصب أحد مكاتب السفر والسياحة العاملة في الإمارة عليهم بعد أخذ أموالهم، التي تتجاوز 200 ألف درهم وإيهامهم بأن كل حجوزاتهم وتذاكرهم مكتملة، وأن موعد سفرهم للجهات المقصودة بات وشيكاً، لافتاً إلى أن الدائرة شكلت فريقاً للبحث في القضية من مفتشي قسم حماية المستهلك، بعد ورود الشكاوى، وأنه تبين صدقية الشكوى واحتيال صاحب المكتب بعد مراجعة المكتب، وبعد التأكد من صحة الشكاوى تم إغلاق المكتب وتحويل الملف بالكامل إلى النيابة العامة في محكمة أم القيوين لاتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة، واسترداد أموال المتعاملين مع المكتب.

افتتح مكتب سفر وسياحة مستوفٍ للشروط، بعد أن استخرج كل التصاريح اللازمة لمباشرة العمل من الجهات ذات الصلة في أم القيوين، ولكن بعد تردد المتعاملين على صاحب المكتب وتقاضيه مبالغ تتجاوز 200 ألف درهم أعمى الجشع بصيرته، فأصبح يوهم المتعاملين، الذين يودون السفر وقضاء العطلات في خارج أرض الوطن بأن حجوزاتهم الفندقية قد اكتملت، وأن تذاكرهم أصبحت جاهزة، وأن المكان تم تهيئته بالكامل، واضعاً في حسبانه أن العقوبة لا تتعدى الإنذارات والمخالفات ومن ثم الإغلاق، ولكن صاحب المكتب تفاجأ حينما قررت دائرة التنمية الاقتصادية في أم القيوين بتحويل القضية إلى النيابة بهدف استرداد حقوق المتعاملين، وذلك بعد أن تقدم أكثر من 15 متعاملاً بشكوى لقسم حماية المستهلك بالدائرة تفيد بعدم صدقية المكتب ونصبه عليهم، وأن الحجوزات كانت وهمية، الأمر الذي أوقعهم في حرج كبير مع أسرهم.
