Noland II is a unique and innovative instrument - it is a sonic map waiting to be discovered. Instead of sliders or knobs, Noland can be controlled completely with individual, automatable XY pads. Each XY pad controls one or several parameters at the same time.

Fabrizio Poce, musician and programmer has created a set of 7 Max for Live devices based on xy pad-style morphing. One of the devices in the Morph family, MorphJ is a freeware plugin that allows you to morph (control simultaneoulsy) any two parameters, in any Ableton Live device.

What I'm missing, especially since it makes so much sense on touch screens, is an XY pad, but this is already planned for one of the next updates. I personally have trouble getting used to the restrictions that the user modules order parameter controls from left to right and you can't select the corresponding control interface.

Die vorhandenen Module haben all die Funktionen, die man erwarten würde. Clips und Mixer Module können miteinander verlinkt werden, so dass man durch die Spuren scrollen kann und die Ansichten jeweils die gleichen Spuren anzeigen. Beide Module haben eine Umschaltfunktion. Im Clips Modul kann so auf die erste Mixer-Ansicht mit Lautstärke-Fader/Mute umgeschaltet werden. Beim Mixer Modul zeigt die zweite Ansicht Panning, Solo und Aufnahmebereitschaft für die Spuren. Außerdem kann hier die Master-Lautstärke eingerastet werden und die maximale Lautstärke der Spuren auf 0 gesetzt werden. Das Master Modul enthält die Transport-Steuerung, die Lautstärke-Fader für Master und Cue, den Crossfader sowie Undo und Redo.
