Initiatives to restructure and develop the Malaysian artistic and socio-cultural landscape slowly enter the scene at least in the urban context. MapKL (www.mapkl.org) which opened end of March proves to be one more non-profit initiative to create an open platform for an interdisciplinary exchange and to enrich the artistic landscape with democratic means. It is one more initiative which aims at educating its people and creating a more open society. This space could prove to be a fruitful cooperation partner for non-profit organisations in Germany. Well placed in an environment of few but motivated foundations, NGOs and foreign civic organisations, this organisation is aspiring to position itself as another cooperation partner for cultural projects, corporate companies and decision makers.
