50 % of all global carbon emissions stem from heating, cooling and construction of buildings. The production of conventional building materials is a major driver of climate change. For example, cement production alone is responsible for 5 to 7 % of global CO2 emissions. These materials require additional insulation to be effective. We found that currently there is only little awareness concerning the environmental impact of such materials. Just a limited choice of eco-friendly building materials is available on the market (e.g. wood, clay, reed). However, these materials are often very expensive, take a long time to be produced, are complex to build and are not carbon negative.

There is increasing consensus among practitioners and academics alike that we are in the midst of a paradigm shift from producer-centered and internal innovation processes toward user-centered and open innovation processes. This paradigm shift induces significant changes to the design of organizations. Even though the research field of user innovation has been developing over a period of more than four decades, there have been only occasional intersections with the research field of organizational design. Growth in the Asia-Pacific economies is expected to decelerate slightly to about 5.3 percent during 2016–17, according to the latest Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and Pacific, published on May 3, 2016. While Asia remains the engine of the global economy, the moderation in regional growth reflects the sluggish global recovery and slowing global trade. As external demand remains relatively subdued and global financial conditions have started to tighten, domestic demand is expected to be a major driver of activity across most of the region. The report finds that policy settings are appropriate across most of the region, but implementing structural reforms is critical to bolstering potential growth and reducing potential vulnerabilities. The report also covers China’s spillovers to Asia, implications of China’s rebalancing for trade, and inequality in the region. LINK

The major challenges faced by cleaning company owners and managers is that firstly, the acquisition of meaningful information concerning cleaning personnel productivity and secondly, that motivation plays a major role concerning the implementation of instructions and knowledge acquired during trainings.
The commercial cleaning industry is more complex than it seems. This can be attributed to the large number of key players and components of which it is comprised. The major challenges faced by cleaning company owners and managers is that firstly, the acquisition of meaningful information concerning cleaning personnel productivity and secondly, that motivation plays a major role concerning the implementation of instructions and knowledge acquired during trainings. In terms of technologically oriented solutions to these challenges, four key trends emerged; they are monitoring systems, mobile devices and software, big data collection and management and HR development of cleaning personnel. Sorting Machines in the fruit industry facilitate the determination of fruit-quality. Superconductor technology can find use in sorting machines in an NMR-centered system scanning the fruits. The new scanning technology enables for producers to accurately determine ripeness, compressive strength, absence of seeds, cavities and density differences in a non-destructive way. All of which are major factors in ensuring high fruit-quality to end-consumers. Yet, the most beneficial one is analysing the maturity of fruits, which can provide a substantial profit for producers by preventing large-scale losses resulting from poor ripeness estimations. Adequately illustrating the problem, 30% of all avocados shipped from Mexico to Europe have to be discarded.

Although 47% also report that they plan to expand their operations in China, this represents a thirty-nine point decrease from 2013, when an overwhelming 86% of European companies were intending to do so. However, a clear majority of European business would likely increase their investment in China in the event of market access barriers being removed.
The European Chamber of Commerce in China, in cooperation with Roland Berger, today released its annual Business Confidence Survey 2016. The survey finds that Beijing’s failure so far to deliver on promises that foreign-invested enterprises will enjoy a more open, competitive market has fostered mounting pessimism: a significant 41% of European companies are now re-evaluating their China operations and planning to cut costs, including through headcount reduction. Although 47% also report that they plan to expand their operations in China, this represents a thirty-nine point decrease from 2013, when an overwhelming 86% of European companies were intending to do so. However, a clear majority of European business would likely increase their investment in China in the event of market access barriers being removed.

Since a majority of students graduating from the WU obtain employment at large private or public institutions, we consider it of vital importance to familiarize them with theoretical, empirical and institutional knowledge about Austrian and European economic policy.
This sub-corpus allows us to investigate the degree of modulated interactivity associated with blogs, “interaction-at-one-remove” (Nardi et al. 2004: 46), which pertains to the theoretically infinite time lag between posts and comments. To enhance the results obtained, the subsection of blogs that received the majority of comments has been categorised by type (i.e. professional, personal and topic blogs).
The data chosen for this study come from the Birmingham Blog Corpus (BBC), a diachronically-structured collection covering the period 2000-2010 and totalling 600 million words. In particular, the analysis is based on an 80 million word sub-corpus of the BBC (http://www.webcorp.org.uk/blogs), which includes both blog posts and reader comments from the Blogger and WordPress hosting sites. This way the immediate purpose of a blog can be taken into consideration in the analysis so as to uncover potential differences in the linguistic means used by each type.

Differences in click behavior were analyzed based on the data of a major advertising auction site.

All of this means that we desperately need solutions that take social and environmental concerns into account, as well as business and economic considerations. Some pioneering initiatives have already been launched in Vienna that aim to establish the freight bicycle as an ecologically sustainable and low-noise means of transportation.”
