In 1966 a Press Office was instituted as an information organ during Vatican Council II. This office took over the role of the 1939 Information Office and began to function as the Holy See Press Office under the Pontifical Commission for Social Communications.

En 1966, le Bureau de Presse, qui avait été institué comme organisme d’information du Concile Vatican II, absorba le précédent bureau et commença à fonctionner comme Bureau de Presse du Saint-Siège, sous l’égide de la Commission Pontificale pour les Communications Sociales.

Nel 1966 la Sala Stampa, che era stata istituita come organismo informativo del Concilio Vaticano II, assorbi il precedente ufficio e cominciò a funzionare come Sala Stampa della Santa Sede a cura della Pontificia Commissione per le Comunicazioni Sociali.
