The works of Morandi (Bologna 1890–1964) possess the gift of silence, a theme that was explored by the MAISON&OBJET observatory in its January 2017 session. The paintings and engravings exhibited in Lugano invite the spectator to enter into a hushed world, full of solemn domestic objects and essential landscapes. Using infinite shades of grey and lines that can be light and transparent, or dense and dramatic, this 20th century Italian artist was always spot on, imbuing each piece with visions of eternity.
