A naturally curious and inventive musician, Faust’s musical passions extend across the full range of the repertoire, from the Baroque to contemporary repertoire. In this Swansea concert she will perform Brahms’ Violin Concerto, one of the world’s supreme pieces for violin and orchestra. A noble and spacious concerto, capped with a brilliant Hungarian-style finale, her performance is sure to end the concert, and indeed the season, with a flourish. The concerto is in three movements and was composed by Johannes Brahms in 1878 for, and dedicated to, his friend violinist Joseph Joachim. It was Brahms' only violin concerto, and, according to Joachim, one of the four great German violin concerti.
