Bisher ist noch nicht abschließend geklärt, wie die Erklärung des Opt-Out technisch ermöglicht wird. Die bisherigen Planungen gehen davon aus, dass die EP-Nummer in eine Online-Maske eingegeben werden muss. Im Rahmen eines Vorgangs können bis zu 20 EP-Patente eingegeben werden, bevor man die Erklärung abschickt. Wer eine sehr große Anzahl an EP-Patenten hat, muss diesen Vorgang entsprechend häufig durchführen.
