As one of the projects funded by the E.ON research initiative, the project "Equation of State for Combustion Gases and Combustion Gas Like Mixtures" (EOS-CG) focuses on a thermodynamic property model, which is sufficiently accurate in the relevant range of mixtures, temperatures and pressures (from humid air to compressed liquefied carbon dioxide).

Im Rahmen des mit einem E.ON Research Award ausgezeichneten und durch die International Research Initiative der E.ON geförderten Forschungsprojektes „Equation of State for Combustion Gases and Combustion Gas Like Mixtures“ soll eine Zustandsgleichung bereit gestellt werden, die in dem erforderlichen Druck- und Temperaturbereich eine Modellierung der für innovative Kraftwerksprozesse relevanten Gasgemische (von feuchter Luft über Verbrennungsgase bis hin zu komprimiertem, flüssigen CO2) ermöglicht.

Therefore, the key tasks of the new EOS-CG model are the improvement of the mixture equation of state, especially with regards to the accurate prediction and the stable numerical calculation of complex phase equilibria in humid gas mixtures.

Das Ergebnis der Studie zeigte ein deutliches Verbesserungspotential der Gleichung, besonders für Gemische mit Wasser oder CO2 als eine der Komponenten. Ziel ist es daher im zweiten Schritt mit EOS-CG ein verbessertes Stoffdatenmodell for Wasser- und CO2-Gemische mit besonderem Fokus auf die komplexen Phasengleichgewichte solcher Systeme zu entwickeln. Teil des Projektes ist zudem die Umsetzung der Zustandsgleichung in Computercode (FORTRAN95) zur Bereitstellung eines Stoffdatenpakets, welches die Einbindung des Gemischmodells in kommerzielle Berechnungs- und Simulationssoftware ermöglicht.
