Les principales étapes qui ont marqué l’évolution économique du Liechtenstein sont l’accord douanier avec la Suisse (1923), le choix du franc suisse comme monnaie nationale (1924) et les fondements spécifiques en matière de droit des sociétés (1926).  L’adhésion à l’Espace économique européen (EEE) en 1995 a facilité l’accès au marché international de l’industrie et du secteur financier et garantit que la régulation de la place financière Liechtenstein correspond aux normes européennes. Depuis 1995, le Liechtenstein fait également partie de l’Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC).

Interessant sind die Abkommen mit Österreich, UK, Luxemburg, Uruguay und Singapur.
