The group of gilded bronze statues of Cartoceto is the only gilded bronze statue from the Roman era existing in the world today. It probably represents a family group, originally consisting of two pairs of feminine figures, cloaked and veiled and two cavaliers in military uniforms with richly adorned horses. The latest studies have dated the statues to about 50-30 B.C., the Caesarean era. They are protected inside a glass showcase produced by Rober Glass. The showcase features a domed hexagonal shape composed of six metallic posts on the corners that converge in the center of the dome, supporting six large glass panes, each curved at the top. This allows the visitor an unobstructed 360° view of the statues.
