In 1664, a stone church, dedicated to St. Trinity, with St. Nicholas's side chapel was founded and replaced a small wooden temple. The construction was financed by the rich landowners Anisimovs. Later, this church became a side chapel of St. Trinity Cathedral, built from 1664 to 1684. St. Nicholas's Church, as St. Trinity Cathedral, had one dome. A hipped-roof bell tower adjoined it from the south.

В 1664 г. заложен каменный храм во имя святой Троицы с приделом во имя св. Николая Чудотворца, сменивший небольшой деревянный. Деньги на его сооружение были выделены богатыми помещиками Анисимовыми. Позднее он превратился в придел Троицкой соборной церкви, построенной в 1664–1684 гг. Никольская церковь, как и Троицкий собор, была одноглавой. С южной стороны к ней примыкала шатровая колокольня.

In 1870, a large heated refectory in the form of a spacious hall was built between the Church and the bell tower. The now-existing Church of the Nativity is a combination of classical and earlier baroque elements: the "octagon on square"-type church. The Church was completed with an onion dome that has been restored. A wonderful pseudo-Gothic bell tower with a high dome, a spire, columns, and pinnacle pyramids adjoined the Church on its west side.

В 1870 г. между храмом и колокольней выстроена обширная тёплая трапезная в виде просторного зала. Нынешний Рождественский храм представляет собой пример сочетания классического стиля с более ранними элементами барокко: церковь типа «восьмерик на четверике». Храм завершался луковичной главкой (восстановлена). С запада к церкви примыкала великолепная трёхъярусная псевдоготическая колокольня с высоким куполом, шпилем, колоннами и пирамидками-пинаклями.
