The Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict has been ratified by 147 countries, and came into force in Switzerland on 26 July 2002. It seeks to increase the protection of children and young people during armed conflicts by raising the minimum age for voluntary or compulsory recruitment as provided for in the CRC.
Il Protocollo facoltativo riguardante la partecipazione di bambini a conflitti armati comprende 147 Stati membri. Per la Svizzera è entrato in vigore il 26 luglio 2002. Tale Protocollo è volto a tutelare i bambini e i giovani in conflitti armati aumentando l’età minima prevista nella CRC per il reclutamento volontario e obbligatorio.
