Members of the police, secret agents and the GOE (local SWAT team), who almost piously come to help organize and keep things under control, make up an important segment of the procession. Arriving at 8 am to help aspiring Cucuruchos and Verónicas follow procedures as planned at the San Andrés School, regular police are also deployed on the main square, as well as inside the convent, making sure everything runs smoothly. Special forces keep a close eye on the relic sculptures, which are treated like museum pieces throughout the day. During the procession, security forces lead the way and tail behind, and are rewarded with food and beve-rages for their selfless disposition.
