Continue after lunch by foot towards the breathtaking Giessbach waterfalls on the southern shore of the lake 5 km from Iseltwald. Route is well marked, just walk east. For maps, visit the tourist office in Interlaken before leaving. After you arrival to Brienz you can either head straight back to Bönigen and relax on the ferry or spend a night in Brienz and explore the town and return the next day. There’s plenty of accommodation and dining options for all tastes (check Brienz -Eating and Sleeping). Ferry timetables can be found on the BLS website. There’s three passenger ferries that departure frequently and one of which is a steamboat constructed 1914. The nostalgic paddle steamer “Lötschberg” is the jewel of Lake Brienz and well worth the experience. If you decide to stay overnight, you can buy a day-pass for ferry and visit the villages of Oberried, Niederried and Ringgenberg the next day. You can also take the ferry all the way back to Interlaken East if you are staying in Interlaken.
