Standardisation bodies have taken into account the growing requirements for performance and flexibility of building cabling. For example, additional new features such as PS-NEXT, PS-ACR, FEXT, PS-FEXT and skew were defined for the second version of ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173. This is a crucial step towards implementation of the high-speed protocols ATM 155/622/1000 Mbit/s, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
