Sur proposition de 19 de ses membres, l'OMPI a engagé, en juillet 2000, un deuxième processus de consultations sur la question de la protection d'autres signes distinctifs: les dénominations communes internationales (DCI) pour les substances pharmaceutiques, les noms et les acronymes d'organisations intergouvernementales internationales, les noms de personnes, les indications géographiques, les indications de provenance et les noms commerciaux.

In July 2000, 19 Member States requested that WIPO begin a second process dealing with the protection of other distinctive signs on the Internet. This included International Nonproprietary Names (INNs) for pharmaceutical substances, names and acronyms for international intergovernmental organizations, personal names, geographical indications and indications of origin as well as trade names. The Final Report of the Second WIPO Internet Domain Name Process was published September 3, 2001. The WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT) will be consulted for the report (see the SCT Electronic Forum). Based on these results, WIPO will decide on further action at the September 2002 General Assembly.

Auf Antrag von 19 Mitgliedstaaten startete die WIPO im Juli 2000 einen zweiten Prozess, der sich mit dem Schutz weiterer Kennzeichenarten befasst. Gegenstand der Untersuchung sind International Nonproprietary Names (INNs) für pharmazeutische Substanzen, Namen und Akronyme internationaler zwischenstaatlicher Organisationen, Personennamen, geografische Herkunftsangaben und Ursprungsbezeichnungen sowie Handelsnamen. Der Schlussbericht zum Second WIPO Internet Domain Name Process wurde am 3. September 2001 veröffentlicht (in Französisch und Englisch). Der Bericht wird zunächst vom WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT) anlässlich von zwei Sondersitzungen beraten (elektronisches Forum des SCT in Französisch und Englisch). Gestützt auf die Ergebnisse wird die Generalversammlung der WIPO im September 2002 über das weitere Vorgehen entscheiden.

Su proposta di 19 stati membri, l'OMPI ha inoltre lanciato nel luglio 2000 una seconda consultazione riguardante la protezione di altri diritti sui segni distintivi: le denominazioni comuni internazionali (DCI) per le sostanze farmaceutiche, i nomi e gli acronimi di organizzazioni intergovernative internazionali, i nomi di persona, le indicazioni geografiche, le indicazioni di provenienza, i nomi geografici e i nomi commerciali. Il rapporto conclusivo su questo Second WIPO Internet Domain Name Process è stato pubblicato il 3 settembre 2001 (in francese e inglese). Il rapporto conclusivo verrà discusso dapprima dal WIPO Standing Committe on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT) in due sessioni straordinarie (v. Forum elettronico del SCT in francese e inglese). Sulla base dei relativi risultati l'Assemblea generale dell'OMPI deciderà nel settembre del 2002 sui passi ulteriori da intraprendere.
