Das zentrale Altstadtviertel dagegen repräsentiert das echte Cádiz und ist bekannt für seinen pittoresken Charme der vielen alten Gebäude, die die Geschichte der Stadt widerspiegeln. Der Altstadtkern lässt einen starken arabischen Einfluss erkennen und bezaubert durch die kopfsteingepflasterten Straβen, die mitten ins Stadtzentrum und zu den vielen malerischen Plätzen führen. Hier kann man sich gemütlich hinsetzen und ein wenig entspannen. Alle Plätze, San Juan de Dios, España, Mina, Constitución oder etwa Mentidero, haben ihren ganz eigenen Stil. Ein Fußmarsch durch die gesamte Altstadt und durch einige der schönen Parks mit herrlichem Ausblick nimmt etwa eine Stunde in Anspruch. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Häfen seiner Größe erscheint der Hafen von Cádiz ganz ruhig und ist ist weder untertags noch nachts bedrohlich.

La vecchia città o quartiere centrale di Cadiz è dove risiede il vero cuore pulsante della città. Famosa per il suo fascino pittoresco, molti degli edifici riflettono la storia della città. La città vecchia sembra, apparentemente piuttosto moresca, fatta di tante stradine tortuose che portano a molte piazze pittoresche, luoghi perfetti per sedersi e rilassarsi. Piazze come quella di San Juan de Dios, di Spagna, di Mina, della Costituzione e del Mentidero hanno un proprio stile distinto. Dovrai camminare un'ora per visitare tutta la città vecchia, che passa attraverso alcuni parchi dai quali ammirare la splendida vista sulla baia. A differenza di molti altri porti delle sue dimensioni, quello di Cadiz sembra subito tranquillo e per nulla minaccioso, anche di notte.

Weiter im Norden, am Fuß der Monts de l'Espinouse, erhebt sich Olargues mit seinem Glockenturm, einem Überrest der ehemaligen Burg. Der Ort zählt zu den schönsten Stätten des Regionalen Naturparks Haut-Languedoc. Aber weiter im Hinterland der Region Languedoc sollten Sie unbedingt Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert besuchen. Die tief eingeschnittenen "Gorges de l'Hérault" (Hérault-Schlucht) überragend, befindet sich in diesem Ort eine der schönsten Abteien des Départements: die von der UNESCO in das Weltkulturerbe der Menschheit aufgenommene Abtei Gellone.
