Boreal forest soils represent a considerable reservoir of carbon on a global basis. The objective of this study was to compare the response of soil organic carbon (OC) to disturbance along two jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lamb.) chronosequences of either fire or harvest origin.

Globalement, les sols de la forêt boréale constituent un immense réservoir de carbone. L’objectif de cette étude était de comparer le sort du carbone organique (CO) dans le sol à la suite de perturbations dans deux chronoséquences de pin gris (Pinus banksiana Lamb.) issues soit d’un feu, soit d’une coupe. Les stocks de CO total ont été déterminés pour les horizons A et B. Les résultats indiquent un retour aux niveaux qui existaient avant les perturbations après environ 30 ans dans les deux chronoséquences. Nous avons eu recours à une combinaison de fractionnement physique des réservoirs de CO dans le sol : la mesure isotopique de 13C, la polarisation croisée et la rotation à l’angle magique en spectroscopie par résonance magnétique nucléaire (RMN), pour caractériser de façon plus complète la composition du CO dans toutes les stations. Un réservoir labile de CO associé à la fraction de sable grossier dominait dans tous les sols. L’importance relative de ce réservoir labile augmentait avec le temps écoulé depuis la perturbation dans les deux chronoséquences. Les stations perturbées par le feu ou la coupe différaient cependant en termes de composition macromoléculaire du CO dans le sol selon la RMN. Plus particulièrement, les spectres de la couverture morte dans les deux plus jeunes stations perturbées par le feu révélaient une forte intensité de CO aromatique qui peut être attribué à la présence de charbon. Il est intéressant de constater que nos résultats indiquent également que ce charbon est transféré de la couverture morte à l’horizon A avec le temps.

En el cierre del congreso se dejó abierta la invitación para asistir al próximo congreso CEPIAL, el que se desarrollará en Cauca, Colombia. Finalmente, destacar que uno de los productos más relevantes de este congreso fue la creación de la Cámara Jurídica latinoamericana, la que nos convoca a reunir redes de apoyo en pro de comunidades y territorios afectados por problemáticas de pobreza, inequidad e injusticia.

Im ersten Tätigkeitsjahr haben wir ein Projekt des städtischen Netzes auf dem Gebiet der Stadt Włocławek eingeführt, das die Grundlage für die weitere Entwicklung der breitbandigen Infrastruktur darstellt. Das regionale breitbandige Netz in der ganzen Woiwodschaft Kujawien-Pommern haben wir im Rahmen eines weiteren Projekts in den Jahren 2004-2008 gebaut.
