Anlässlich der Anpassung an die neue europäische Maschinenrichtlinie 2006/42/EG wurde zur Vereinfachung der Bereich der Maschinensicherheit aus der STEV herausgelöst und in einer eigenständigen Maschinenverordnung neu geregelt. Materiell bringt das neue Recht insbesondere für die Hersteller eine Erweiterung der Möglichkeiten für die Konformitätsbewertung von Maschinen, eine Vereinfachung der Abgrenzung zwischen Aufzügen und Maschinen sowie Elektrogeräten und Maschinen. Zudem wurde der Anwendungsbereich präzisiert. Die neue Maschinenverordnung tritt, analog dem EG-Recht, am 29. Dezember 2009 ohne Übergangsfrist in Kraft.

Presentatasi l'occasione dell'adeguamento alla nuova direttiva europea relativa alle macchine 2006/42/CE, il capitolo della sicurezza delle macchine è stato, per motivi di semplificazione, estratto dall'OSIT e nuovamente disciplinato in un'ordinanza sulle macchine a sé stante. Sul piano materiale il nuovo diritto costituisce in particolare per i fabbricanti un ampliamento delle possibilità di valutazione della conformità delle macchine, una semplificazione della delimitazione tra ascensori e macchine nonché tra prodotti elettrici e macchine. Inoltre è stato precisato il campo d'applicazione. La nuova ordinanza sulle macchine entrerà in vigore, contemporaneamente alla norma CE, il 29 dicembre 2009, senza termine transitorio.

Bern, 24.06.1998 - Die Umweltminister, darunter Bundesrat Moritz Leuenberger als Vertreter der Schweiz, haben am Mittwoch in Aarhus (DK) zwei Protokolle der ECE- UNO-Konvention über weiträumige grenzüberschreitende Luftverunreinigung unterzeichnet. Die Unterzeichnerstaaten verpflichten sich damit, ihre Emissionen an Schwermetallen (Kadmium, Quecksilber und Blei) und persistenten organischen Schadstoffen (Dioxine und gewisse Pestizide) merklich zu reduzieren. Die Schweiz hat die eingegangenen Verpflichtungen mit der Umsetzung der seit 1986 in Kraft stehenden Schadstoffverordnung und Luftreinhalteverordnung bereits weitgehend erfüllt.
