Gamay is the vine of Touraine, part of the Loire and especially Beaujolais. The Geneva terroir makes it possible to raise particularly fruity Gamays. In some favorable names like Peney and Peissy, it is possible to raise Gamays of good conservation, ie to be tasted for five years and more. Like all the red wines of the Domaine des Balisiers, the Gamay is put on sale only after a year of cellaring. Gamay is the main red wine grown in AOC Geneva. It is a wine of meal which accompanies the charcuterie, some white meat and poultry. It can be served quite fresh, rather than being chambered. Ruby in color, this fruity wine often has hints of raspberries and blackberries.
