Aufgrund der Ergebnisse des Auswahlverfahrens erstellt ein Ausschuss für den Amtspräsidenten eine Shortlist geeigneter Bewerber; der Präsident wiederum schlägt dem Verwaltungsrat der Europäischen Patentorganisation einen Kandidaten vor, und der Rat kann diesen Vorschlag nach den Bestimmungen des Europäischen Patentübereinkommens entweder annehmen oder ablehnen.

Based on the results of the selection procedure, a committee establishes a shortlist of suitable candidates for the President of the Office, who in turn proposes a candidate to the European Patent Organisation's Administrative Council, which either accepts or rejects the candidate in accordance with the provisions laid down in the European Patent Convention.

Selon les résultats de la procédure de sélection, un jury établit une liste de candidats qualifiés présélectionnés, qu'il soumet au Président de l'Office. Celui-ci suggère à son tour un candidat au Conseil d'administration de l'Organisation européenne des brevets, qui soit accepte, soit refuse ce candidat conformément aux dispositions arrêtées dans la Convention sur le brevet européen.
