Together with the lawyer, the podestà, the doctor and the parish priest he sat around the huge fireplace in the spacious living-room of his home to enjoy wild bore cooked in wine: together they planned the future of the community’s land, often worried by the attraction the city held out for the young farm labourers, but at the same time anxious to participate in the onward march of progress.

Zusammen mit dem Rechtsanwalt, mit dem Oberbürgermeister, dem Arzt und dem Pfarrer traf er sich vor dem Kamin im großen Salon seines Hauses, um Wildschwein in Wein gekocht zu genießen: zusammen planten sie die Zukunft der gemeinsamen Ländereien, manchmal besorgt über die Anziehungskraft, die die Stadt auf die jungen Bauern ausübte, aber gleichzeitig verängstigt, dem bedrängenden Fortschritt anzugehören.

Insieme all’avvocato, al podestà, al medico ed al curato si riuniva intorno al grande camino nel salone della sua casa per assaporare il cinghiale cotto nel vino: insieme progettavano il futuro della terra della comunità, a volte preoccupati dell’attrattiva che la città esercitava sui giovani contadini, ma al contempo ansiosi di far parte del progresso incalzante.
