I make statements to the University from the academic performance of the Faculty, the application, and the infrastructure. I work out the nomination application materials of the Faculty to the honors. There are seasonal tasks, for example the management of the scholarship “Új Nemzeti Kiválóság Program” (a program for young researchers, PhD students and university students). In addition I coordinate the Priority Research Topics of the faculty. This year I had one big task during the last year, which the Dean named when he offered me the vice-dean position. We expanded a publication supporting system to motivate the students, with this we help them to understand the importance of the continuous high-quality publication. Although there is a person who is responsible for SSC, but I also keep an eye on the resources and help in the application process. Moreover all matters related to PhD students also belong to me.

The speeches are followed by songs and later by dancing, in which even the Ironmaster is obliged to take part. The music gets faster, the dance wilder, and the Ironmaster loses his footing and falls to the ground in an undignified manner. He is angry and discomfited. As he rises he dislodges the gypsy player's violin, and in a fit of anger smashes it. During the horrified silence that follows he orders the gypsies off his land and leaves. The gypsy family respond with resignation, and the Act closes with a view of the iron bridge, with a procession of travellers / refugees crossing over it. Accompanying this is "The Song of the Refugees".

Le Méitre des forges trébuche et tombe par terre de maniére trés peu digne. Il est en colére et fort déconfit. En se relevant, il s'empare du violon du musicien gitan et le met en piéces dans un accés de colére. Au court du silence horrifié qui s'ensuit, il ordonne aux gitans de quitter ses terres et sort. La famille de gitans se résigne … partir. La scéne se termine sur une vue du pont de fer sur lequel passe une procession de réfugiés. En fond sonore, on entend ®La chanson des Réfugiés.

Öt restaurátorműhely mutatkozott be a „Restaurált múkincsek" című kiállításon. Maradandó tudományos hozadéka, hogy tárgyakkal, életrajzokkal, a restaurátori munka ismertetésével megjelent a restaurátor kiállítás DVD-je, korszerű adathordozón, 21. századi igényeknek megfelelően. A DVD nem csak fotókon, szövegekkel mutatja be a múzeum restaurátorainak munkáját, de szerepelnek rajta az Esterházy-kincstár néhány sérült tárgyának 3D rekonstrukciói, valamint egy teljes dokumentumfilm. A Műhelytitkok c. dokumentumfilmet Dénes Zoltán készítette, 2012-ben a 43. Magyar Filmszemlén is bemutatták. A „Műhelytitkok" című film elvezet a múzeum, látogatók által nem bejárható zugaiba.

There are innumerable treasures lying in the Museum's stores. Few of them are in a condition to be exhibited without some preparatory work. Museum visitors can have no idea of what some exhibited items looked like when they first arrived in the Museum. Sometimes a thorough cleaning is enough, but more often, even very valuable art works are received in a degraded, fragmented state. Pieces that have survived Mongol, Ottoman, Austrian and Russian invasions or the ravages of fire, water and time, are reborn in the restorers' workshops. Like a magician, the restorer takes things that are incomplete, fraying, broken, smashed or scratched, be they ceramic pots, clothes, furniture, goldsmith's work or little personal objects, and makes them new again. Of course it is not magic, but the fruit of extensive knowledge of materials and technology, artistic humility, and of course much time and patience. In 2008 and 2009, the Museum revealed in an exhibition the things that are usually hidden from museum visitors. Five restoration workshops presented their work under the title "Restored art treasures". The restoration profession also benefited from the exhibition through a DVD on the work of the Museum's restorers, with biographies and extensive photographs of the exhibits, as well as 3D reconstructions of some damaged items from the Esterházy Treasury. Also included is Zoltán Dénes's full-length documentary Műhelytitkok (Workshop secrets), which delves into nooks and crannies of the Museum never seen by visitors. The documentary was shown at the 43rd Hungarian Film Festival in 2012.

Mammalian artificial chromosomes (MACs) are safe, stable, non-integrating vectors with a large transgene-carrying capacity. Previously, a method was discovered in our laboratory to produce stable, properly segregating, and non-integrating artificial chromosomes in various mammalian cell lines. These MACs are purported to be devoid of gene-coding sequences beyond rDNA. Natural equivalents of our artificial chromosomes are the heterochromatic small supernumerary marker chromosomes (sSMCs). sSMCs are present in 0.043% of the human population and most frequently originate from chromosome 15 (chr15). Stable heterochromatic sSMC can be inherited without phenotypic effects. Additionally, there is a report of 8 healthy members of a three-generation family carrying an sSMC derived from the short arm of an acrocentric chromosome. Recently, we reported the presence and detailed analysis of a stable sSMC in four healthy members of a three-generation family. It is of particular interest that this three-generation sSMC is a very stable entity: adding up the age of carrier family members the sum is >140 years. This fact provides convincing evidence that tetrasomy of the chr15p-q11.2b segment is harmless. The three-generation transmission demonstrates that such a chromosome can stably persist without apparent structural changes through generations. Furthermore, transgenic mice were produced with our artificial chromosome, and these mice were healthy and handed down the MACs into their offsprings through several generations. Recently, an artificial chromosome expression system, including a pre-engineered platform MAC with multiple acceptor sites (Platform ACE), was also developed. This Platform ACE is pre-engineered to contain multiple recombination acceptor attP sites for the ACE Integrase. In the Platform ACE system (Figure 1A), an ACE Integrase expression vector is co-transfected with an ACE-targeting vector (ATV) into a cell line harboring the Platform ACE (Figure 1B). The transiently expressed ACE Integrase then catalyses the integration of the targeting vector onto the Platform ACE. The ATV is a plasmid-based shuttle vector which conveys a gene(s) of interest onto the Platform ACE by means of targeted recombination between the recombination acceptor attP sites present on the Platform ACE and the recombination donor attB site of the ATV, catalyzed by the ACE Integrase. A promoterless antibiotic resistance gene downstream from the attB donor site allows for the select

Mammalian artificial chromosomes (MACs) are safe, stable, non-integrating vectors with a large transgene-carrying capacity. Previously, a method was discovered in our laboratory to produce stable, properly segregating, and non-integrating artificial chromosomes in various mammalian cell lines. These MACs are purported to be devoid of gene-coding sequences beyond rDNA. Natural equivalents of our artificial chromosomes are the heterochromatic small supernumerary marker chromosomes (sSMCs). sSMCs are present in 0.043% of the human population and most frequently originate from chromosome 15 (chr15). Stable heterochromatic sSMC can be inherited without phenotypic effects. Additionally, there is a report of 8 healthy members of a three-generation family carrying an sSMC derived from the short arm of an acrocentric chromosome. Recently, we reported the presence and detailed analysis of a stable sSMC in four healthy members of a three-generation family. It is of particular interest that this three-generation sSMC is a very stable entity: adding up the age of carrier family members the sum is >140 years. This fact provides convincing evidence that tetrasomy of the chr15p-q11.2b segment is harmless. The three-generation transmission demonstrates that such a chromosome can stably persist without apparent structural changes through generations. Furthermore, transgenic mice were produced with our artificial chromosome, and these mice were healthy and handed down the MACs into their offsprings through several generations. Recently, an artificial chromosome expression system, including a pre-engineered platform MAC with multiple acceptor sites (Platform ACE), was also developed. This Platform ACE is pre-engineered to contain multiple recombination acceptor attP sites for the ACE Integrase. In the Platform ACE system (Figure 1A), an ACE Integrase expression vector is co-transfected with an ACE-targeting vector (ATV) into a cell line harboring the Platform ACE (Figure 1B). The transiently expressed ACE Integrase then catalyses the integration of the targeting vector onto the Platform ACE. The ATV is a plasmid-based shuttle vector which conveys a gene(s) of interest onto the Platform ACE by means of targeted recombination between the recombination acceptor attP sites present on the Platform ACE and the recombination donor attB site of the ATV, catalyzed by the ACE Integrase.
