I cannot imagine how people lived before the invention of the computer, I am convinced that I was born in the right century! My name is Daniel Griza, I am sixteen years old and Edelweiss Foundation’s ambassador. This year I have got the maximum score and the first place at Republican Computer Science Olympiad. I have also brought home several gold and silver medals from national and international competitions. But I am very proud of the medal won at Clock Tower School Romania 2012 contest, where I competed with dedicated IT teams from countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Romania, which are much more developed in training for Olympics in IT.

This leads to adopting a way of management that can also successfully overcome the tremendous restrictions that small scale imposes upon any productive venture. Greater scale facilitates accessing a higher threshold of opportunities. The fact is that apart from accessing markets far beyond the local one, a medium scale venture can count on differentiated management areas, among others, administration, sales, product development, training, finances, external relations. It would no longer be an isolated person or family, compelled to do a little bit of everything, limited in reach and effectiveness, facing the challenges of the touristic activity. Nor would it be an association of small producers that in many cases is created to merge wills and represent interests, but that has not been designed and structured to effectively manage an economic initiative that has to make room for itself among many other actors of a globalized world.

Maior escala facilita acessar um umbral superior de oportunidades. É que ademais de acessar mercados além do local, um empreendimento médio pode contar com áreas diferenciadas de gestão, entre outras, administração, vendas, desenvolvimento de produtos, capacitação, finanças, relações externas. Já não seria uma pessoa ou família isolada, obrigada a fazer um pouco de tudo, limitada quanto ao alcance e efetividade, a que enfrenta os desafios da atividade turística, nem tão pouco uma associação que em muitos casos é criada para unir vontades e representar interesses mas que não foi desenhada e estruturada para gerir com efetividade uma iniciativa econômica que tem que fazer para si um lugar entre muitos outros atores de um mundo globalizado.

In May 1985, a tunnel was opened connecting Spirit Lake and South Coldwater Creek in order to lower the lake level and to prevent flooding downriver. I had great fun taking the photos for this panorama: I managed to set up the tripod one a huge, floating log which, fortunately did not roll over.

Tronchi e rami, scaraventati nello Spirit Lake dall'esplosione del 1980, sono ancora a galla, perlopiù com'erano giusto dopo l'eruzione. Nel Maggio 1985, è stato aperto un tunnel di connessione tra Spirit Lake e South Coldwater Creek allo scopo di abbassare il livello del lago e prevenire inondazioni. Mi sono divertito un sacco a scattare le foto per questo panorama: mi sono ingegnato a posizionare il treppiede su un enorme tronco galleggiante che, fortunatamente, non si è messo a rollare. Camminare sui tronchi galleggianti, tuttavia, non è di solito raccomandabile ;-).

Pierino Forni (1919-2005) is a “villese”, who has made Ticinese and Luganese football great. He started out his career in FC Lugano, when still very young and during the 1940-1941 season won the LNA Swiss Championship. In the course of the 1942-43 season, he participated in the Swiss Cup final against the Grasshoppers (lost two goals to one), a final that was played at Bern’s Wankdorf stadium in front of 18'000 spectators. Forni ended his career as forward some seasons later, wearing the Chiasso jersey.

Trust also plays a key role when the buyer of Yavuzsoy's lined paper drawings has to promise the artist to give them to anyone else who, upon seeing them, says they would also like to have one: a generous act in which Yavuzsoy calls the circulation of art goods into question. Since 2004, he has been creating the lined sheets of paper that strictly adhere to the DIN (German industry standard) norm of industrially manufactured writing paper. The artist draws his straight lines on white paper on an almost daily basis-freehand, but with an underlying "model" to go by-until the pencil he is using is depleted. The resulting drawing is the product of a machine-like virtuosity, without ever quite being able to attain to the industrial norm. But Yavuzsoy explains that he is not concerned with the idea of artist as machine: "People can always see that the paper is drawn by hand." What fascinates him more is the endlessness of the self-appointed task, in a state of dissolution and approaching the inexhaustible.
