They described the postdoctoral fellowship as “an important buffer zone,” “a career saver,” and “a brilliant career step if you can get it”. However, they also remarked that although fellows should use this transition period to take an active part in the intellectual life of a university, a one- or two-year fellowship can effectively become a grant for writing job applications, which seem to require increasing amounts of time and effort.

Opening has taken place at 13.30 and has passed very much organized and quickly, nobody including even the representatives of local authorities tortured with long speeches, everybody is cold! After that sportsmen have got acquainted with qualification lines on difficulty and have gone to an isolation zone – a small house nearby, from where distance and acting is not visible. From the zone of isolation they get called to the start place one by one according to starting numbers. At 14.30 men, and in half an hour – on the next line – women started.

После этого, быстро одевшись в «100 одежек» (на улице – минус 22!), отправляемся к месту соревнований на открытие. Открытие состоялось в 13.30 и прошло очень организованно и быстро, длинными речами никто не мучил, даже представители местной власти, - всем холодно! После этого спортсмены познакомились с трассами квалификации на трудность и отправились в зону изоляции – домик, стоящий неподалеку, откуда не видно дистанцию и выступающих. Из зоны изоляции их вызывают к месту старта по одному в соответствии со стартовыми номерами. В 14.30 стартовали мужчины, а через полчаса – на соседней трассе – женщины.

Outreach activities included NEXUS Marine briefings to local marina and yacht club owners in the pilot project zone. A news release was issued to the local media. Press kits were distributed at boat shows. NEXUS Marine information was posted on CBP and CBSA Web sites. Articles were published in boating magazines and local newspapers, and NEXUS Marine pamphlets were distributed to NEXUS Highway members who crossed the border by car in the Windsor/Detroit area. Letters were sent to CANPASS Private Boat participants, informing them about NEXUS Marine. CBP's Web site included information on their policy of allowing boaters to use a NEXUS Marine membership in lieu of the I-68 process to land in the U.S.

Les gestionnaires de NEXUS Maritime à l'ASFC ont demandé l'ajout de NEXUS Maritime à un plan de marketing qu'un entrepreneur externe avait déjà commencé à élaborer pour NEXUS Autoroutes. Le plan de marketing est arrivé trop tard pour le projet pilote maritime. Cependant, la Direction des communications et de la consultation a fourni un plan de communication et des produits ciblés afin d'appuyer le lancement du projet pilote, y comrpis un communiqué de presse, des pochettes de presse, des avis publics dans des médias sélectionnés, des articles généraux pour les magazines de navigation plaisancière et des journaux locaux, une brochure, des affiches, un guide pour les membres et des messages sur le site Web. La distribution de brochures et de pochettes de presse à des salons nautiques et à des personnes franchissant la frontière en voiture ont donné certains résultats : au 25 novembre 2005, 1 061 demandes d'adhésion avaient été reçues et 779 membres étaient inscrits [ 16 ].
