Monday, February 26th 2018, Shawville (QC) – The Minister for Transport, Sustainable Mobility, and Transport Electrification and provincial Member for Pontiac, André Fortin, and the Member of Parliament for Pontiac, William Amos, announced today financial assistance for Abattoir les Viandes du Pontiac for the construction of a new multi-species abattoir, including a cutting plant and vacuum packaging facility. The federal government has shown its support for this project through an $828 625 term loan from the federally-backed Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and an $83 875 term loan from the federally-funded Société d’Aide au Développement des Collectivités (SADC). The government of Quebec also contributed $736 200 in loans for this project. The new abattoir, which is supported by the MRC Pontiac’s Economic Tactical Intervention Group, will lead to the creation of at least ten jobs in the region.
