Nous avons utilisé conjointement le broyage humide et une homogénéisation sous pression pour séparer des particules de chitosane en fibrilles à la nanoéchelle que nous avons transformées en film de cristal liquide très résistant par autoorganisation à une température relativement basse. Les nanofibres de chitosane séparées mécaniquement avaient un diamètre moyen de 50 nm. Le film de cristal liquide transparent obtenu présentait une résistance à la traction élevée (100,5 ± 4,0 MPa) et un module de Young de 2,2 ± 0,2 GPa à cause de sa structure multicouche ordonnée, dépourvue de pore. Nous avons mis au point une méthode écologique, efficace et fiable pour fabriquer des nanofibres de chitosane et un film de cristal liquide.
