Nancy è una città che ha ricevuto un sigillo di nobiltà e di bellezza dal Re Stanislao di Polonia. Mentre essa era prima divisa in due unità distinte, il Re riusci a collegarle e a fonderle in una sola città, realizzando un magnifico centro, di grande qualità architettonica e urbanistica, proprio nello spazio interstiziale che separava le due entità. A pochi passi da questo centro, l'apertura di un bacino collegato alla Meurthe, originariamente pensato come spazio di diporto, è invece degenerata col tempo in una parte vuota e abbandonata della città, in una separazione fra il centro e la periferia. Lo scopo del nuovo progetto Stanislas-Meurthe a cui Mazzucconi si è applicato dal 1978, prima con un incarico del Ministero della Cultura e poi partecipando a un concorso,è quindi quello di riunire queste due parti della città, in modo simile a quanto Stanislao aveva già fatto, conferendo alla zona del Canale una funzione e una dignità architettonica. Il progetto che, con vari mezzi, ridisegna e rivitalizza la zona, comporta alcuni eventi architettonici di primo piano.

The exhibition’s Russian title – Vid na zhitelstvo – technically means ‘a residence permit for immigrants’ but the word vid may also mean ‘view’ or ‘perspective’, which gives the title a second meaning – ‘a view on living’. The exhibition encompassing work by renowned contemporary Russian photographers Max Sher and Jegor Zaika includes 120 photographs, video and an installation. This project is a reflection on ethical explorations pursued by artists who often opt for inner emigration refusing to make socio-political judgments about the surrounding world. What they get as a result is a ‘transit zone’, a space of semantic and ethical semi-emptiness where the cultural signs and codes of the immediate present appear as the only possibility to feel and define the boundaries of one’s own identity.

Le titre russe de cette exposition – Vid na zhitelstvo – se traduit littéralement « Un permis de séjour pour les immigrants » mais le mot vid peut également signifier « vue » ou « perspective », et donne au titre un deuxième sens – « Une vue sur la vie ». L'exposition embrassant les œuvres des photographes contemporains russes réputés Max Sher et Jegor Zaika inclut 120 photographies, vidéos et une installation. Ce projet est une réflexion sur les explorations éthiques menées par les artistes qui traitent souvent d'exodes intérieurs, refusant d'émettre des jugements socio-politiques sur le monde environnant. Ce qu'ils mettent alors en scène est une « zone de transit », un espace de semi-vide sémantique et éthique où les signes et codes culturels du présent immédiat apparaissent comme la seule possibilité de sentir et de définir les limites de l'identité de chacun.

The management system for the property is long-standing, and involves numerous stakeholders with well defined specialist functions, which they exercise with recognised expertise. The Municipality is seen as the current coordinator of this system, notably through its consultative management with the inhabitants in the Conservation Area, which includes both the property and its buffer zone. A Property Committee has been established and is responsible in particular for monitoring conservation and protection, coordinating the various stakeholders, and relations with the inhabitants.

During the entire month of August, the public could enjoy free access to publications from Strelka Press through the Strelka Digital Library, a collaborative project with Bookmate, available through the Strelka Wi-Fi zone. A mobile bookcrossing platform developed in partnership with artist Alexander Lysov, Moscow City Library Centre and the Design Library operated in Strelka’s courtyard and provided an opportunity for visitors to swap books on art, culture and architecture.
